So I just watched it, this mix of black comedy and softcore porn. The movie kept very closely to the book (a favorite of mine) and the few edits that it did have added tot he experience rather than mixing and slicing it into so macabre horror family film.Sam Rockwell did a fabulous job as Victor Mancini, though I thought that (in her role as Paige Marshall) Kelly MacDonald might have been a little too sweet. I don't know, Paige always struck me as the plotting and demented well-meaning type, rather than this doe eyed girl with 'issues'.

Anjelica Huston however. Oh my. She portrayed Ida Mancini as exactly the cold, distant anarchist that I imagined her to be. Scary shit I tell you.

My one and only criticism of this movie, and this pisses me off let me tell you, was over Fred. Fred motherfuckin Hastings. Yet somehow, someone thought it would be a FANTASTIC IDEA to separate him into both Fred the lawyer and some random fucking one scene man, Ira Hastings. Why Clark Gregg? Why was that necessary?
